After years of the pandemic, Airbus Helicopters celebrated a successful CM DAY'22 in presence.
On September 8th, IpX Europe participated at that unique CM event in Donauwörth, GERMANY as exhibitor in the Market Place.
Airbus Helicopters in Donauwörth opened its doors to welcome invited guests, from Airbus Helicopters (AH), Airbus Defence and Space (ADS), Airbus Commercial (ACA) and external companies. The audience consisted of participants from various departments, such as Configuration Management, Chief Engineering, Production, Airworthiness, Service & Support and other Entities.
At the morning, around 70 participants listened to presenters and testimony from AH, ADS and ACA and were thus able to deepen their understanding of software management. After the networking lunch event another highlight followed in the afternoon. A total of seven market places from BK117/EC135 Program, NH90/Tiger DEV-02 SW Mgmt, CiA Program, SAP Transformation, APQP Project, IpX CM2 & 3DX Tool provider created an atmosphere of interest and offered a platform for discussions.
CM2 Training without traveling: we do offer two choices of remote learning. For online courses students have 28 flexible days to finish with one course. Live virtual courses are 4 days 4 hours each based on our training schedule where students connect with the trainer and other students using a virtual training platfrom. More info at "Courses"
One focus of the CMII/IPE Standard is on minimizing/avoiding corrective action. By reducing corrective action, unnecessary costs will be avoided leading to increased profit and/or increased room for investment.
Most organizations spend more than 50% of resources on intervention fixing problems. If corrective action declines real improvements will go up.
Lead time for changes will be reduced dramatically by using the unique "fast-track" capability of the Closed-Loop CMII change process. More changes can be implemented in the same period than before.
Products will be released into the market earlier by using CMII/IPE principles in product development - with better quality and less failure that today.

It was a great pleasure to work alongside like-minded individuals that are at the forefront of the Configuration Management. The conversations and debates we had were great learning points and I look forward to implementing CM2 in my organisation.
A few years ago I asked Ray Wozny from the Institute of Configuration Management if there was a shorter training for me, because I had 15 years of CM experience at the time. Surely I don’t need to go through the full length of training to get CM2 certified? He replied that there is no shortcut, as CM2 is quite different from traditional CM. At that time I thought that this was a statement to sell more training, but now that I have gone through the CM2 Basic training (CMII-01 ... -04), I have to say he was right. CM2 is a whole different dimension from traditional CM and I am happy to have gone through the training as it is.
For us at Atos as System Integrator, we use the best-in-class processes and products that fit a company's PLM business challenges and ambitions. CM2/IPE courses gave us a common understanding on how to do match CM activities with the usage of PLM systems. We apply many of the CM2/IPE principles as a 'single point of reflection' in our day-to-day consulting work with different type of customers in the discrete manufacturing industry.
CM2 helped me and my organization understand why it is important to be more in control. CM2 provides a set of principles which allows you to use what is necessary for your organization within the framework of Configuration Management. It has created awareness and changed the mindset of people who work with CM in my organization; reduced corrective action and increased benefits.
In our Configuration Management we were looking for a method that would help us to improve the efficency of our processes in order to accommodate changes faster and increase transparency for our colleagues. What we learned in the CM2 Courses regarding configuration and process management exactly was what we were looking for.
